110 Lit Narrative

I thought that these prewriting exercises were helpful to brainstorm ideas. They were useful to help write down important parts of my reading and writing progression throughout school. The timeline was especially helpful in doing that, it made me dig into memories to include parts all the way back to preschool. The webbing/clusters were useful in getting a bit more specific into details. Although I may not use any ideas on these prewriting exercises, I think that they were useful in refreshing my memory and giving me good topics to consider.

Literacy Narrative:

The revision process was different than past experiences because to start we highlighted the first draft with different colors so that we could see the pieces of the essay all together. I thought that this was really helpful because after that I completely changed the layout of my essay. We also gave and received a different kind of peer review, in past experiences usually people just give punctuation edits and then say “wow so good!” but this time we actually had categories to focus in on. This was helpful because people actually got to really look at your work and give suggestions on the content. I think that overall I spent around 3 hours total, including in class work, revising my work. I feel really good about my work, at first I didn’t really like how my story flowed and I didn’t know what I could do to improve it. After self revising the first time, it was suggested to add a lot of detail and a setting, so I was able to give a lot of backstory and details which made my story a lot more interesting. The digital process was a little weird because I don’t like hearing my voice on video, but I thought that the process was good to step out of my comfort zone. I chose to do an iMovie and I thought that this would be a really good media to fit my story. I didn’t really learn anything super new during this digital media project.
