In both of these texts, when I was doing the initial read through I highlighted anything that seemed important. The highlights were the major things to takeaway from that paragraph. When I write something along with the highlights it is usually me interacting with what I read and giving my personal take. For example, in, In Praise of the F Word, towards the bottom I highlighted “teaching style”. I highlighted this because I felt that in connection to students learning and their grades, teaching style is a really important aspect to look at. When reading text, I frequently use this style of annotation to engage with my reading. I mainly highlight my text or underline, and then write down comments on the side.
